Awaiting Obama’s AIPAC speech
Tomorrow morning, President Obama will take the podium at AIPAC. They’re calling his speech “pivotal”:
When President Obama takes the stage on Sunday morning before the American Israel Public Affairs Conference, it could represent a pivotal moment for Obama to keep Jewish voters in his corner.Jefferey Goldberg of The Atlantic interviewed Obama recently, and had this to say about the meeting that will take place Monday between Obama and PM Netanyahu:
Republicans have sought to peel off the Jewish vote from Obama, as his tenuous relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will address AIPAC Monday after a one-on-one meeting with Obama, has led to accusations that he isn’t supportive of Israel.
At the White House on Monday, President Obama will seek to persuade the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to postpone whatever plans he may have to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities in the coming months. Obama will argue that under his leadership, the United States “has Israel’s back,” and that he will order the U.S. military to destroy Iran’s nuclear program if economic sanctions fail to compel Tehran to shelve its nuclear ambitions. There’s a lot going on in Washington during the next 48 hours, and the events will be well worth your attention. We’ll keep you posted.
