Al-Shabab Commander: Our Declaration of Allegiance to Al-Qaeda is 'a Key to Renewing the Caliphate, Expelling the Crusaders from the Muslim World, and Liberating Jerusalem'

Al-Shabab Commander: Our Declaration of Allegiance to Al-Qaeda is 'a Key to Renewing the Caliphate, Expelling the Crusaders from the Muslim World, and Liberating Jerusalem'

In a new audio recording, the commander of the Somali jihad organization Al-Shabab Al-Mujahideen, Mukhtar Abu Al-Zubair, declared that the Muslims' victory over the Crusaders is near, and that last month's London Conference on Somalia was aimed at erasing this country from the map of the world. He also expressed satisfaction over his organization's declaration of allegiance to Al-Qaeda, calling it "a key to renewing the Caliphate, expelling the crusaders from the Muslim world, and liberating Jerusalem." He urged all Muslims to join the jihad, for it is an individual religious duty incumbent upon every believer.

Al-Zubair's address was aired on Al-Shabab's radio station, Al-Andalus, on March 22, 2012, and a transcript was posted the same day on the jihadi forum Shumoukh Al-Islam. The following are the main points of the transcript.

New Video Documents Siege by Bedouin on Multinational Force Mission in Sinai, Indicates Links to Salafi-Jihadis in Gaza

New Video Documents Siege by Bedouin on Multinational Force Mission in Sinai, Indicates Links to Salafi-Jihadis in Gaza

On March 9, 2012, the blog Ansar Al-Shari'a, which chiefly follows Salafi-jihadi activities in Egypt, reported that the same day, armed Bedouins had surrounded the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) base in Sinai and laid siege to it. According to the report, they blocked access to the base from all four directions, in an attempt to pressure Egypt's "apostate government" to release jihadis from its prisons, chiefly Muhammad Al-Raba', Younis Abu Jurair, Osama Al-Nakhlawi, and Muhammad Gaiz.

The following day, the jihadi forum Shumoukh Al-Islam picked up the story, reporting that dozens of Bedouin were protesting on the roads leading to the base, blocking personnel and supplies from reaching the international forces there, and that they had even set up portable roadblocks, turning back anyone who was not a local resident. According to the report on Shumoukh,, the demonstration came in response to the Egyptian authorities' violation of a commitment to release jihadis from its prisons – a commitment made by the commander of the Egyptian 2nd Army during the Bedouin's previous round of demonstrations in late January 2012, in northern Sinai's Bir Lahfan area, in which they demanded, among other things, to halt natural gas exports to Israel and to release their prisoners.

Why Israel must strike

Why Israel must strike

Op-ed: Main Shoah lesson is that active anti-Semites must be stopped when they're small

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the AIPAC conference was a spectacular and inspiring display. We can even characterize it as the best speech ever delivered by our PM.

The combination of the words, images, essence and body language was deeply convincing. Not to mention the level of English, of course.

Op-ed: Yair Lapid presents surprising scenario of what Israelis can expect after Iran strike
Full story
Should the principles outlined in the speech be realized one of these days, and Netanyahu will shift from words to actions and from threats to bombings, his AIPAC 2012 address may be included in the list of the 21st Century’s most important speeches.

As usual with Netanyahu, he linked the Iranian issue to the Auschwitz horror, yet this time it was necessary. Holocaust imagery is a despicable thing in domestic arguments between Jews, yet not when we face an external enemy planning a final solution for us.

If in Arafat’s case there was a slight doubt as to whether he hates Jews or only settlers, in Ahmadinejad’s case there is no doubt. Iran’s president openly aspires to collectively annihilate us. He is also vigorously preparing the required nuclear infrastructure to carry out his wishes.

Or as Netanyahu said this week: What looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck – is a duck.

Never Again

It is possible that Ahmadinejad is less capable than his spiritual fathers in the Arian Europe and may have trouble implementing his pans, yet it would be illogical to premise our future on such fragile operational assumption. If we do it after all, we shall render all our Yad Vashem rhetoric, memorial ceremonies and March of the Livings in Poland empty of all substance.

In the distant past we promised ourselves not to forget and not to forgive, yet a short while later we reconciled with Germany. We referred to it as “The Other Germany” and fooled ourselves a little. Yet we must not give up the “Never Again” pledge as well.

The main lesson of the Holocaust is that active anti-Semites must be stopped when they’re still small. We can’t wait for them to prepare a nuclear Auschwitz for us.

The website WikiLeaks has begun releasing what it says are 5 million e-mails sent between July 2004 and late December 2011 from the private intelligence company Stratfor. The emails were obtained from a series of hacking attacks against Stratfor in December 2011, carried out by the online activist collective Anonymous.
Stratfor describes itself as a provider of “strategic intelligence on global business, economic, security and geopolitical affairs” and has about 300,000 subscribers. The Texas-based company has issued the following statement: “Some of the e-mails may be forged or altered to include inaccuracies; some may be authentic. We will not validate either. Nor will we explain the thinking that went into them. Having had our property stolen, we will not be victimized twice by submitting to questioning about them”.
The emails are part of what WikiLeaks calls “The Global Intelligence Files” and one of the first items released is a document titled “The Stratfor Glossary of Useful, Baffling and Strange Intelligence Terms” which was attached to an email sent by Stratfor CEO George Friedman in 2007.
The “glossary” contains some terms and definitions about U.S. government agencies, ranging from humorous to derogatory. The following terms are taken directly from the Stratfor e-mail sent out by Mr. Friedman:
Clandestine:
Operation that has no open connection to anyone. Israeli maxim: “If you’re captured, we don’t know you. If you’re killed, we won’t bury you. So…don’t get captured and don’t get killed.” Clandestine is synonymous with suicidal.”
Duplicitous little bastards:
Israeli Intelligence
Megawatt/Kilowatt:
Megawatt: Israeli term for CIA. Kilowatt: Israeli term for themselves. They don’t really mean it.
Sigint and ELINT:
Signal intelligence and Electronic intelligence: from wiretaps to satellite intercepts. Usually expensive, dangerous and requires physical effort. Good first mission for BYM (bright young man). Suggest that he try planting a bug in the Israeli Embassy in order to get good first hand experience in ELINT. You can find him the next morning at the curb in a plastic garbage bag.
Target—hard:
A tough target. A thirty year veteran of Israeli intelligence who has gone totally paranoid.
Approximately 3 months before the Gaza flotilla incident, Turkish prime minister, Erdoğan, was looking to “break with Israel and the United States”, according to an internal email conversation involving Stratfor CEO George Friedman and several Stratfor staff. The same email chain mentions that “Erdogan has made it clear to him that he plans to break with Israel at some point and reorient toward the Islamic world. He intends to be their leader.”
This email also mentions that former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believes that Israel will attack Iran.
George Friedman says “I believe the US will preempt. But there is no clear time line”,when replying to a question about a possible Israeli attack on Iran. Another Stratfor staff member states, “All my sources – regardless of factional affiliation – are convinced that Iran is preparing for war and one that will make the regime more stronger.”
An email dated November 14, 2011, refers to a deadly munitions blast at an Iranian Revolutionary Guards base. The email lists the following claim from a source: “The Israelis already destroyed all the Iranian nuclear infrastructure on the ground weeks ago. The current ‘let’s bomb Iran’ campaign was ordered by the EU leaders to divert the public attention from their at home financial problems.”
This was later clarified as: “Israeli commandos in collaboration with Kurd forces destroyed
few underground facilities mainly used for the Iranian defense and nuclear research projects.”
A different email dated July 21, 2011, refers to a source described as a former Pakistani intelligence officer. The source refers to “Pakistan bashing” and states “…covert and overt influence Israel enjoys through funding American congressmen and the control Israel has on American policies through coercion and fear of Jewish lobby.”
In another email dated November 17, 2010, a Stratfor staff member refers to former Spanish PM Azner as “…hardcore.. Way more extreme than even the Israeli officials I’ve heard speak.”
George Friedman has not resigned despite some media reports to the contrary.
